Message from the Director of Education

The joy of learning is a gift to be shared with every child. That joy is possible only when children are encouraged to take the initiative for what they are learning and to be creative within all of their experiences. As kindergartners (child nurturers) and teachers, The Froebel Education Centre provides a caring and accepting atmosphere, a well thought out environment and individual guidance of each child.

Since every child has initiative, he feels a need to explore, investigate and experiment. With proper guidance he will discover for himself what is to be learned. Such a methodology ensures that children will learn the appropriate Ontario Ministry Curriculum, but will not be limited by it. A child, who is motivated from within, discovers all kinds of things that stimulate his interests and thus his desire to do and to accomplish.

On becoming aware of possibilities, the God-given spark within each child is lighted so that she experiences the joy of learning, of doing things and making things that bring joy to herself as well as to others. The child expresses both her feelings and thinking in every way - in her perceptions and ideas, social interactions, emotional happiness, physical skills and spiritual insights.

It is during the foundation years that the child forms impressions from everything he experiences, "I see, I touch, I smell, I taste, I hear. Then I can understand, think and create." At The Froebel Education Centre, positive attitudes toward self and others are formed, suitable habits are initiated and skills begin to bud so that the school-aged child, beginning in grade 3, can build and grow all his potential on that well built foundation.

Child development is broad and visionary in that each child learns how to relate to all others, to care for his natural environment and to recognize the harmony of life possible in his relationship with God. These children will live full lives. They will be givers to others and lead with compassion and responsibility into the unknown future.
